Written by Federico García Lorca, Translated by Henry Livings
Directed by Mary Ann Vargas
Presented by BA World Performance
Loosely based on William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, what remains of this unique one act piece are 6 apparently disjointed scenes where over 30 characters are coupled and brought together to embody impossible pursuits, crossings, interactions, escapes and reappearances that probe the very nature of the theatre and its elusive search for reality. This version was premiered in October 1988 at the Theatre Royal Stratford East.
